Automated scraping and readability analysis to assess data policy quality and accessibility across the Fortune 500
Summary
Developed an automated workflow utilizing Python, JavaScript, and AppleScript to automate the scraping of data privacy policies for every Fortune 500 company. Each policy was subsequently processed through a reading accessibility analyzer, determining the reading level and providing a breakdown of language accessibility. This information was cataloged and archived, playing a crucial role in informing the development of future algorithms and systems.
This research was part of the broader work at BEACON, a data privacy startup I cofounded in 2018. The dataset produced here directly informed the policy grading systems and product development behind Pulse Privacy, our flagship SaaS tool.
